Final Sound Check at Suntory Hall, Tokyo Japan

Hey Folks,

As I sit here in my best friends NYC apartment, I look back at the incredible journey I was so fortunate to have experienced. As I said in my last video blog, our final performance took place at the world famous "Suntory Hall". The concert was full of fans who have already seen the show and they added over 20 strings for a total of 52 strings alone in the orchestra. The show sold out in less than 10 minutes...very exciting. You can't ask for a better crowd! I've already posted a video of my 'moment' in the show but this was taped from the balcony with the full orchestra so I thought I would post it. This was my sound check before the final show. I will NEVER forget this performance which was later that night. Truly an incredible moment for all.

That being said, put this site in your favorite box and keep checking. my life isn't coming to an end...haha Happy holidays!!!

Danny McNie - Go The Distance Live!

Friends,

As promised, attached is my 'featured song' in the show. This was taped on my birthday at the matinee performance at the Tokyo International Forum, in front of 5,000 people! A day I'll never forget. I still pinch myself, all the time, that I've been given the opportunity to sing with such a gifted and beautifully talented orchestra! Listen to them play, it's amazing. I'm truly honored and humbled by this experience.

I'll never forget this time in my life...

Love,
Danny McNie

Music Brings Joy...

Friends,

After our show the other night, we were asked to stick around to meet an audience member from that evening's show. We got dressed and went to meet this incredible women. She was born with sight but somehow down the line she lost her vision, and is now blind and has other physical issues. However, she remembers image's from Disney movies from her childhood. She's now studying at a University here in Japan and Disney music is her favorite. Also, her English was spot on! I can barley get by in this country by being able to say hello and thank you! Impressive to say the least. It was such an honor to meet such a sweet, SMART, precious human who appreciates the gift and joy of music more than I'll ever be able to understand. The joy she showed just by meeting us made the tour for me. She loves ALL Disney movies and "doesn't have a favorite movie, I love them all!" It was a precious moment shared by all parties and I'll never forget her.

A Step Forward, A Step Backwards

Dear Friends,

My blog was made to share my experiences across the world, laugh at all the stupid things I do, share my quarks, poke fun at myself and the people I work with, and maybe a performance here and there. However, it was not made for me to chat about politics. Not that there's ANYTHING wrong with that, in fact, I think it's healthy to have discussions but this will be one of the very few I'll chat about.

Yesterday, I woke up early on our day off, and joined some of my cast mates to watch an historic moment (pic attached Tony Clemmons copyright).

An African American President or a Women as Vice President will take office for the first time in our nations history. If you ask me, that's EXCITING!

I couldn't be more happier and proud to walk around Japan knowing Mr. Obama is our president elect.

That being said, States passed "propositions" that boggle my mind. Are gay men and women second class citizens in this country? In 2008?!? Really, people? As someone who's best friend is adopted, states passed laws to ban loving, caring gay men and women to save a child and give them a better life. I can't put my head around it. And it makes me VERY, very sad and ill.

And it's time for folks to understand that no matter who you are, gay, straight, black, white, Asian, Indian, etc. etc. etc. we are all human and should respect one another and be equals. Listen to President Elect Obama's speech. I know so many couples who planned ceremonies in California, so they could have the same legal rights as any other straight couple, who are now left in the dust. And that breaks my heart.

So, to me, this election was a step forward and a step backwards.

Danny McNie's Video Blog: A Week in Seoul, Korea

Hey everyone!

It's been a great run in Seoul, Korea. The audiences have been INCREDIBLE, the theatre (4,000 seats) was packed each night and it was by far the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. We go back to Japan tomorrow and the tour continues throughout the country. We received CD's of our opening night and I'll post my number soon...

Watch the video and please keep checkin in!!
Hope all is well and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!!

Danny McNie - Traveling to Korea

Hey Ya'll!
So, our tour is finally on the road! We left today for a week long stay in Seoul, Korea. Attached is a video of our day and is always a production! Mrs. Tobi Foster, Jackie Vanderbeck and I had a great time! The cast and crew checked into our hotel and I walked in and my jaw dropped. I have to do a separate blog just on this room...AMAZING! Nonetheless, the boys and I went out for some adventures & food and midway through, we realized none of us did any research on Korea nor spoke a lick of their language. I have no idea what I ate...more to come!

Thanks for watching!!

Adventures of Climbing Mt. Mitake in Japan!

Ok, Ok!
So the boys asked us if we wanted to go 'mountain climbing' and I'm not gonna lie...I would rather sleep in, rest thee ol' cords, not be sore the next day and get stuff done but I went anyway. But the thought of walking uphill, hot, for 4 hours was a lot. I'm in Japan, opportunities don't happen everyday, so I WENT, duh!! So, I woke my lazy behind up at the crack of dawn and took a two hour ride to "Mt. Mitake."
As you'll see in this video, it was STUNNING!! I, of course, am the one who doesn't try to screw all the traditional things up, yet screw 100% of them up, each and everytime. Typical!

Take a look at the video!!

I'm the king of the world!!!??!

First day of Rehearsal with the Orchestra.....um, NERVES!?!

Hey Kids!
So, today was our first rehearsal with the da'lovely Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra! Mr. Menken has it in for tenors, I'm convinced. So, by the time we began the Alan Menken part of the show, all our voices were exhausted, but this was my and only chance to sing my solo before we being teching and going into the performances.
Listen to them play....WILD!!!!

More to come!
xoxo,
A Very Tired, McNie :-)

I got one chance to practice with the orchestra...it'll get better, promise!! Listen to them play, tho! DAMN!

The Orchestra practicing a song from the movie "The Pirate's of the Caribbean"....stupid!

Just a lil artwork...and my name spelled in Japanese!

So, here's my RANDOM bio and my name in Japanese...

The Beginning of Tokyo!

Hey Folks! So, rehearsals have been going well! LOTS of singing and singing HIGH! My jetlagness (is that even a word?) is still in effect but I can't complain. We have our first major rehearsal with the orchestra tomorrow and I can't wait, although I won't lie, I'm a bit nervous and intimidated to sing with such a powerful and incredible orchestra. Yet, it's thrilling!
I've attached some pictures I've took in the little time off since I got here. We open next week and that's when I'm gonna have lots of time to start posting video's and pictures. I hope all is well back in the states!

Love,
Danny/D/McNasty/D-1/Fuckin Tenor

The Good 'ol Tokyo City Opera where we are rehearsing. Fancy!

The Entrance to our hotel complex, filled with roller coasters, a dome, shops, tons of restaurants, etc. GORGEOUS!

Looking up at our hotel. I'm on the 35th Floor....can you imagine the view?? Well, let me share it with ya...

Just a hint of my view...Tokyo is like 4 NYC's all in one. It never ends!!

OK, so here's the deal. This is the dial on my toilet seat. Take a look at the features. If your pee shy, your covered. If you need a little spray, your covered, I mean your covered in so many areas!! AND the seat is heated. Going to the bathroom will never be the same...

Welcome to Danny's Blog!

Hey ya'll! So, everyone has been asking what my new job is so I thought I'd post a clip from last year's tour. I was hired to be a part of Disney on Classic '08: The Music of Alan Menken. It's a tour throughout the Japan and Korea. We arrived yesterday and it's a bit overwhelming but loving it at the same time. I've attached a video of my fellow cast mate and CCM alumni, whom I adore. And did I mention one of the best Cosette's in Les Miz on the big Broadway?? haha This year she will be singing the "Enchanted" material from the movie. I can't tell you how incredible this orchestra is. PERFECTION. My big 'moment' is singing the Michael Bolton version of "Go the Distance" from "Hercules"...and I can't wait to hear them play it. Nonetheless, I'm exhausted...more to come. Japan is MUCH different than the states and I can't wait to share.

Love to all!
Danny
